What Are Nightshades?
Nightshade vegetables are part of the Solanceae plant family, which contains over 2,000 different species. There are even nightshade flowers, trees, and herbs. The long list can be overwhelming, but the key nightshades to look out for are generally White Potatoes, Tomatoes, Eggplant, Peppers. Nightshades may be very healthy for most, however for those experiencing Autoimmune disease, Bowel disease, Leaky Gut Syndrome or gut-related issues, nightshades can increase unwanted inflammatory symptoms.
