WHAT is Jade Rolling?
Jade Rolling is an ancient beauty practice deriving from traditional Chinese Medicine. It’s said to increase blood circulation, and support lymphatic drainage. It can even help with de-puffing around the eyes. I personally enjoy this practice because it doesn’t require much time, expensive tools, is easy to do while traveling and just feels so nice. I’m a big subscriber to doing simple daily/weekly things that contribute to a consistent feeling of joy over time. Here’s how I do it…
HOW I Jade Roll (Video below)
Apply a non-toxic oil/facial serum to freshly washed face & neck, in an up and outward motion.
Using the larger side of the roller, gently begin to roll from the center, outwards towards your ears/hairline.
Some people like to start at the top of the face (forehead area) and work their way down. I like to start at the neck and work my way up first, then back down if I have time. Most important thing to remember is gentle strokes from center of face, outwards. Feel free to add extra strokes without counting around areas of desire. For instance, I have Sjogrens (an autoimmune disease) which can often promote swelled parotid glands. So I’ll do some extra rolling around them and the jaw line to release tension.

Washing your Jade Roller
The skin is the largest organ in the body and absorbs everything almost instantly. So it’s definitely a good idea to wash your roller regularly. I personally wipe mine down after each use, with a cotton ball using some witch hazel or water. Then for a deeper clean, I’ll spray it with some water and apple cider vinegar once a week. If you have acne or skin issues, it’s best to wash after each use.
Storage
I like to store mine in the fridge so that it’s always nice and cool when I’m ready to use it. This helps with the lymphatic drainage but it’s totally optional and can be stored at room temperature if you prefer.
